God is present in the Dominican Republic and its something I didn't expect. In America people are very intellectual about their faith. Here it is an amazing combination of a dash of intellect and a bucket full of passion. They are passionate about everything, baseball, food, running (not my favorite), and the Christians are passionate about their faith. Doulos is just an example of the extreme faith that people invest in God most of the teachers here are from the states, they sign a two year contract to work with these kids. The school itself invests time into their students which in the DR is somewhat of a foreign concept because a public school class would have 50 kids for every teacher. Doulos values attention so that they may set students up to be world changers. My experience here has been amazing Jimmy and I went to an orphanage for dinner one night and the hospitality of the dorm parents and the children was overwhelming. The kids came from such harsh backgrounds yet they had so much love and happiness. The dorm parents chose to love those kids even though they don't have to. The love of God is deep in this nation and its encouraging to see! God is moving and it's really exciting to think that this team is a part of making a change in the lives of so many present and future kids.
